ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) CANCELLED!

I’m sure many of you have already surmised that our AGM is cancelled for this year due to Covid and the restrictions in place for large gatherings. Our priority continues to be the health and safety of our membership.

We were very lucky that we were able to even open on a limited basis at all this season considering the Ancient Mariners and the Waterloo-Wellington Canoe Club stayed closed for the entire season and remain so.

We are in unprecedented times as a Club, and since we’ve never experienced something like Covid in our lifetime before, we are charting a new course as we move forward.

At this time, the current Board of Directors (BOD) have agreed to continue on in their current positions to provide continuity for the Club and will be meeting soon (via Zoom) to discuss our path forward. We will keep you informed and will provide updates via this blog.

In the meantime, on behalf of the BOD, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support of our Club.  We wouldn’t exist without you.

Regards,

Eugene Marion, President

  1. Thank you for your letter and allowing us to continue to enjoy paddling on the various rivers and ponds, experiencing nature close at hand. Being outside in nature was energizing mentally and physically for those of us able to get together.
You mentioned that the executive will be meeting via Zoom. Is it not possible for all the membership to be included? I have been part of meetings with more than thirty people successfully. We need a means of bringing us together as a club as it has been hard not to have this connection for the past six months.
Anne, Al, Frank, Armand, Bill, Richard all did an amazing job of organizing, communicating, towing or sanitizing to make the canoeing trips a safe and thoroughly enjoyable experience for which we are truly thankful.
    Cheers, Val Haiser

  2. Thank you Eugene and Carol, for keeping us informed and updated.
Also a Thank You to those who volunteered to lead the outings. It has been a year of isolation, but somehow we managed to staying in touch.

I would like to know if our members are willing to resume the Tuesday morning hiking. If you are, please send me a note at: pinit@sentex.ca Winter is coming and we must stay healthy and in shape. Outdoor activities are safe and we can maintain the proper distance.

  3. Congratulations to the Board and everyone who worked so hard to offer canoe trips to the members. Amazing. What a club I’m so lucky to be a member. I have an ‘anonymous’ quote to share. Which I am trying hard to put into practice – and it’s working …
