Our trip on Tuesday August 27th is to the Luther Marsh . It will take about an hour from Wing 404 to get to our destination. The trip is open to all who enjoy flat water paddling accompanied by the occasional wind gust .
The Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area is a biological treasure in the headwaters area of the Grand River watershed. The 5,900-hectare property centres on the 1,400-hectare Luther Lake, created by Luther Dam, built in 1954. Surrounding it are wetlands, fields and forests providing habitat to a wide variety of birds, animals, plants and trees. It is one of the best bird-watching spots in Ontario so bring binoculars if you have some. We will put in and take out at the north east side, near the dam so there will be no shuttle.
The weather : Light rain starts tonight, both here in Kitchener and in the Arthur area. It will be light raining while we’re on the lake, with a steady rain not beginning until afternoon. Temperature 21, feels like 24. Bring sunscreen and lots of water, rain gear and also see “What to Bring on a Canoe Excursion”in the Blog.
The cost of this trip is $6. Meet at the shed by 8:30 am for a 8:45 am departure.
Trip Organizers and towers are Chris Sheppard and Alberta Piche
BE SURE TO CHECK / Tuesday morning for possible changes although lightening is not in the forecast fortunately.
