Trip Details:
2.5 hour paddle past marsh areas which are home to cranes, egrets and other wildlife.
A short walk to a local pub for lunch afterwards is a nice finish to the day for those interested.
Carpool:
Please make arrangements before we meet on Thursday morning.
If you carpool, please reimburse your driver ($10 would be appropriate for this trip).
If you drive in a different car each way, please reimburse both drivers.
Remember:
Bring lunch, water, hat, sunscreen, PFD and proper foot wear- no flip flops

Trip Details:
This is an all time favourite that is being rescheduled after being cancelled due to rain.
It is an interesting paddle with lots of adventures along the way.
This is an all day trip so it does require stamina.
Great opportunity to practice river reading skills.
We have a picnic lunch at a conservation area at the river’s edge.
The trip is followed by a swim at Port Elgin (weather providing) with an optional supper at the Queen’s Hotel in Port Elgin.

Everyone who has EVER been an Old Salt Senior Canoe Club member, is welcome to come out to this traditional paddle and wiener roast at the Rockwood Conservation area.
You can choose to:
canoe a very easy picture perfect route up to the falls and see the old mill, walk on the well defined trails overlooking the lake OR
just sit and socialize .
If you are canoeing:
Bring your typical canoe gear and meet us at the 404 shed at 1PM so we know how many canoes to bring.
If you are not canoeing:
You can either meet at the shed at 1pm and carpool OR
meet us at Rockwood at 2 to 2:30 down by the bridge by the beach.
Potluck location: Hopefully campsite #4.
Cost to Enter Park: There is an admission fee $5.75 for seniors.
What to Bring: Potluck item, cutlery and beverage and your lawn chair.
Dinner Served: At 5pm.

Travel time from RCAF Wing 404 to Launch Point
is 2+ hours (Hwy 400 – Hwy 11).
Trip Details:
The Green River is a true hidden gem in Ontario’s Lake County (Washago). The route takes us thru cottage country. We will pass marsh areas with beaver lodges and beautiful birds and see the fish swim through the crystal-clear waters. We will visit the Washago Grist Mill (built in 1873) and view a number of small waterfalls and rapids along the way.
Waterway: Green River and Black River
Distance and Time of Paddle: 7-15 km and 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy with some light current.
Type of Route – Loop ( no car shuttle required)

What to Bring:
Bring lunch, water, hat, bug spray (deer flies) ,sunscreen, sunglasses, PFD, and proper footwear- no flipflops
Bring a swimsuit and towel to take advantage of the many swimming opportunities along the way or a stop at Washago Centennial Park at the end of the paddle for a swim.
