Skill Level: EASY BREEZY – Basic training required.
Shuttle: No
Trip Fee: $8

Other Information:  Although this is an Easy Breezy canoe trip, it is also a social outing. There will be a potluck lunch around 12 (noon) in the park behind the Festival Theatre (so no need to bring a lunch). The club is supplying the hotdogs and fixings. You may bring a SMALL salad, appetizer or dessert. We ask that you bring your own beverage, plates and cutlery.

If you are not canoeing, but would still like to participate in the potluck, you are most welcome to either meet at the shed and carpool to the put-in at the park, or you can meet at the park around 11:30 a.m. just before lunch. Feel free to enjoy the walking paths while waiting for the paddlers to be done, but stay away from the swans!

Please contact Brenda Welch at 519-884-2168 or brendajwelch@hotmail.com to register for this trip ASAP to determine hotdog amounts. Please indicate whether you are canoeing (to determine how many canoes to take) or not. If you are going to drive to Stratford for the potluck, let Brenda know as well so the group won’t be waiting for you at the shed.

Directions if you are driving yourself to meet for lunch: If you are coming into Stratford from Kitchener and New Hamburg on Highway 7 & 8, it turns into Ontario St.  After you pass the light at Romeo, make the next right on Parkview.  Continue straight into the park, passing Coburg and Waterloo St.  Continue into the park on Richard Monette Way.  It turns into Lakeside.  For the potluck, park up the hill by the washrooms. The river is down  the hill. If you are lost, Pat’s  cell number is 519-575-2115

If you change your mind or are unable to make it for some reason, please let the Trip Leader know asap as this will affect number of canoes required, partners, etc. and so the rest of the group won’t be waiting for you unnecessarily.

URGENT: Trip Leaders and Towers for Upcoming Trips Required!

This club operates on the strength of its volunteers. Bravo to Lynn and her team who are working hard to train our members to get on the water and enjoy the season ! And many thanks to  our Trip Planning Committe who have planned a great schedule to accommodate members of all skill levels. However………

We still require people to sign up to lead and tow on various upcoming trips. Don’t wait to be asked……just volunteer!  Please check out the trip schedule and see which trips you would like to lead or to tow for and contact Anne Woolner to get your name on the trip schedule asap. Trips that don’t have anyone to lead/organize them will be cancelled which would be a shame considering how long we waited for this season to start.

After today’s trip, there is no one on the schedule to lead trips until June 14th, (including our first Easy Breezy trip on Thursday, May 26th) . We have many experienced paddlers in this club who have been on most of the trips that are listed on the schedule. Please consider volunteering to lead a trip (and/or team up with someone to share responsibilities).  There are lots of resources available to help and Anne is just a phone call away!

If there is a trip that you would like to see, but is missing from the schedule, let Anne know. Any suggestions are most welcome.
