Annual Canoe Regatta 

Our Annual Canoe Regatta is Tuesday September 24th at Laurel Creek Conservation Area, 625 Westmount Rd. N. Waterloo.

This is a fun day with water and land games, canoeing around the lake, hiking the trails and a potluck lunch.

Meet at 10:00 at Laurel Creek by the swimming area/reservoir.
Entrance fee is $6.75 for seniors and $8.50 if under 65.

Bring your usual canoe gear, food for the potluck, plate, cutlery and beverage.  The potluck will begin at 12:00.

Just come and enjoy time together at Laurel Creek.

Trip Details:
This is a leisurely paddle on the lovely Avon River in Stratford, followed by a picnic lunch on the island. Enjoy the sights, particularly the swans, but don’t get too close!

Carpool:
Please make carpooling arrangements before we meet Thursday morning.
If you carpool, please reimburse your driver. ($10 would be appropriate for this trip.) If you drive in a different car each way, please reimburse both drivers.

Remember to Bring:
PFD, emergency contact card, water, snacks, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and proper footwear (no flip-flops or crocs).

Saugeen River #1

Date: Tuesday, July 2
Trip: Walkerton—Lobe’s Park.

Intermediate skill level required.
Please have your “emergency contact card” with you, especially for this trip!

Time: Meet at the Shed to leave at 8:00 am sharp.
Driving time is close to two hours.
Our time on the river will be approximately 4 hours.

Cost: $15 (no envelopes)

Trip Details:
The Put-In is in downtown Walkerton at Concession Rd 10, Access Point 5; Take-Out is at Concession Rd 10 & Brant Concession Rd 10, Access Point 7.

We’ll encounter moderate rapids and picturesque scenery as we meander north viewing high sand cliffs and observing flora and fauna.
We stop for lunch at a lovely bend in the river where some swim and surf.
This is an all-day trip that usually ends with an ice-cream cone!

Bring: PFD, hat, sufficient water, snacks, lunch, rain jacket, change of clothing, sun screen, and insect repellant. Please do NOT wear flip flops or crocs.

Tuesday, June 11 –Paradise Lake.

Location: ​​​Camp Ki-Wa-Y, 3738 Hessen Strasse, St Clements
Time: ​​​​9am to 3pm (approx.)

Our day starts Tuesday, June 11, 9:00 am at Camp Ki-Wa-Y.
Included: ​​continental breakfast and lunch:
canoeing on a beautiful private lake;
participating in games on the water;
optional swimming opportunity

For those who wish to carpool, please meet at 8:30 am at the 404.  
Directions from the 404: ​
Turn R onto Weber St (go 2.1km, about 4 minutes)
Turn L onto Benjamin Rd/Regional Road 40 (go 5.7km, about 7minutes)
Turn R onto Kressler Rd/Regional Rd 16 (go 98m)
Take the first L onto Hessen Strasse/Township Rd 5 East (go 3.5 km, about 7 minutes)
Turn L into the camp driveway at 3738 Hessen Strasse and proceed to the parking lot next to buildings (350 m, 1 minute)
All others should proceed directly to Camp Ki-Wa-Y.
We will all meet with the program staff in the camp’s parking lot.

What to Bring:
Pfd, small dry sack, water, sunhat, sun screen, insect repellent, plus bathing suit and towel.
(Canoes and paddles are supplied at the camp)
** Please note that this is a rain or shine event.

In the event of unfavourable weather, please bring your favourite board games.

ALL canoe trips will be posted on the blog and include:
1. Trip information – where we are going, time to meet, what to expect to see, experience required. 
2. Trip leader to rsvp to (NOT always Anne, please READ the post)
3. IF cancelled the morning of, the leader will send out emails to those signed up
4. ALL trips MUST be registered for. NO show up on day of and pay/drop ins 
5. PLEASE contact trip leader if you cannot make it the day of so the groups does not wait needlessly. 
6. These trips are planned for enjoyment and there is never a race to finish it fast or first. However, the trip sweepers may remind you to go the pace of the others.(as someone who always dilly-dallied, I appreciated their reminders!)
Do not make plans for the day of canoe trip, sometimes we arrive home later than planned.

Join us for our September “Bondi Trip”

Bondi Resort Sept 9-13, 2024

Are you interested in joining our canoeing adventures in the Algonquin area?

We stay in a beautiful historic lodge on the shores of Lake of Bays.
We divide the group into 4 teams, each taking responsibility for one breakfast and one supper.
Everyone takes care of providing their own lunches to take on our canoe trips.

The cost for the 4 nights is about $400.
Although we canoe during the day, at night we also have games, a wolf howl, star gazing and a campfire.
There are lots of trails on the property and even an ultimate frisbee course.
