Tuesday’s walk on February 18th will be at 390 Sandy Hills drive just north of Elmira. Take the expressway to Elmira and drive straight through the town. Turn right at Sandy Hills (about 5 mins. outside of Elmira). There is a house on the corner where you turn. Drive about a couple of miles then the parking is on your right. There is another loop down the road so we can walk both trails if desired. Easy walk with slight hills. Doing both trails takes about 1 1/2 hours. Distance is 5km. To make the walk easier I suggest you bring snowshoes. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain.

TUESDAY MORNING WALKS
TUES MORNING WALK {Jan 28th}–before bowling!

Hello All
For any of you who want more exercise than just going bowling, we are planning our usual hike next Tuesday. We will park in the plaza parking lot in front of the TD Bank on the corner of Lawrence and Highland in Kitchener. From there we will walk several meters on the sidewalk across Henry Sturm Creek then take the paved path along the creek a couple hundred meters until we cross Westmount Road and enter Filsinger Natural Area and Park where the winter maintenance ends and serious hiking conditions begin. At that point we can choose a hilly route or a flatter one along the creek. It will be an out and back hike, so we can decide at any point how far we want to go. If we get any additional snow before Tuesday some of you might even want to bring snowshoes.
Let’s be ready to start hiking at 10 o’clock and then have lunch together at one of the many eating establishments in the area before we bowl.

TUES MORNING WALK {JAN 21ST}

Jan. 21st walk details…..
Meet in the parking lot of Snyder’s Flats (the end of Snyder’s Flats Rd.) at 10:00 am.
In Bloomingdale, turn off of Sawmill Rd. (at the ball diamond) on to Snyder’s Flats Road & go to the end of the road to the parking lot.
Snyder’s Flats is a 100-hectare former gravel pit that has been restored as a natural area with ponds, new forests, grasslands and other features.
The ponds provide habitat for several fish species that live in the ponds as well as the nearby Grand River. The forest was planted in conjunction with the Kitchener-Conestoga Rotary Club.
There is a 4.5 km looped trail with interpretive signs that explain the features of Snyder’s Flats.
