This trip will go ahead as scheduled!

Meet at the Shed for 8:30 departure. Anne will be there to organize.

We have secured a tower and would like a volunteer to lead.

Reminder: This is an Intermediate Skill 4-4 1/2 hour paddle.

We have secured a tower for this paddle and now we are appealing for a “Trip Leader.”
The paddle will continue on if you would like to volunteer to lead it, this action would make the trip an even better one.

An exciting paddle…approximately 3 hours–with some nice drops in the water to make the morning interesting!

Our Condolences

On behalf of Old Salts Seniors Canoe Club members, we offer our sincere condolences to long time and current club member Roseanna Rigo and family on the passing of her husband, Ray Sweezey. Ray passed away peacefully at Hospice Waterloo Region on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

A private family interment will take place at Williamsburg Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place 4:00 pm Thursday, June 20, at the Schweben Club in Breslau.

FreshCo Parking Lot, 720 Westmount Road, (Westmount & Ottawa).
Park near Westmount Rd. You’ll see a Dairy Queen in the strip mall.

Duration:  An out-and-back 2 hour hike on a wide paved trail. You may turn back at any time. Come join us!

Notes:
Lakeside Park is a natural park in the heart of the city. It features a large pond, called Shoemaker Pond, as well as Turtle Beach, created to provide a nesting habitat.

Huron Natural Area, one of the City’s largest natural spaces, is home to more than 250 acres of protected forest and wetland and has more than 7 km of trails.

Huron Natural Area has evidence of Indigenous settlement dating back hundreds of years.

The Speed River, a major tributary of the Grand, flows through Wellington County and the Region of Waterloo in southwestern Ontario. It flows south from its source near Orton, through Guelph, where it is joined by the Eramosa River, then through the towns of Hespeler and Preston, finally uniting with the Grand River in north-west Cambridge.
