As winter continues, here are some more photos taken on our Otterbein trip….
The Otterbein Rd. – Freeport “Easy Breezy” trip is a nice and leisurely paddle on a very pretty part of the Grand River. This year we stopped along part of the river with pretty yellow daisy-like flower where monarch butterflies were feeding. A couple of us were also fortunate enough to see a bald eagle fly across the river in front of us. It was amazing!
Many thanks to Al Dunn, our trip organizer and Eugene Marion for towing and to Theresa Markus for submitting photos!
Always a favourite trip with our members, this year’s paddle down the Big Creek River was no exception with 20 paddlers joining the trip. The description of being the “Canadian Amazon” is no lie….and we have the pictures to prove !
Many thanks to Lynn and Diane for organizing and to Eugene and Armand for towing!
Many thanks to Theresa Markus and Don Lawrence for submitting photos!
Now doesn’t this make you want to get back on the water?
Still not done posting photos from last season…….stay tuned…..
Although our canoe season is now over, I’m sure no one will disagree that we had a terrific time on each of our trips. This particular trip was the third part of the Saugeen River we like to canoe beginning at Access 10 and ending at Access 13.
We had a great turnout with 24 canoeists and a beautiful day. Of course it ended with a refreshing swim at Port Elgin, fish and chips and ice-cream for the die-hards!!
Many thanks to our trip organizers, Evan & Jane Jenkins for organizing this popular outing and to Eugene Marion for being our second tower.
This is one of our most popular trips. If you missed it this year, be sure to mark it on your calendar for next season!
Many thanks to the organizers and participants for this fun event and to Janet Smith for submitting the following photos:

Thanks to everyone who came out on this second leg of the Saugeen River. It was perfect day to enjoy the scenery, the water, each other’s company and an ice cream treat at the end:)
We had 24 canoeists on this paddle which we haven’t seen in quite a while! Here are some photos to capture the trip:
Of course after laboring so hard on the river and burning up all those calories, we rewarded ourselves with ice cream at the end of the trip. It was definitely one of the highlights of the day.
Check out the variety and the size of the cones (regular size)!!

Did you know that the trip schedule is posted on the OSSCC website? If you need to access the schedule quickly and don’t want to log into the blog, you can find it here: 2019 Trip Schedule. (Does not have Trip Organizers or times listed)
Those of you who missed this part of the Nith River will be happy to know that the trip was a big hit and will hopefully be on the schedule for next year. The general consensus of those who came out was that it was a fun experience with lots of current, minor “rapids” and lots of chances to practice water reading skills to keep us on our toes.
Thanks to Lynn Warmington and Dianne Wagner for scouting, organizing and leading this trip. Here are some photos to show some high points of this fun trip. Enjoy:)
