WHAT’S HAPPENING!

EASY BREEZY CANCELLED!

Due to lack of interest and no tower, tomorrow’s Easy Breezy is being cancelled.

The next Easy Breezy is scheduled for August 15th. (Moyer’s Landing to River’s Bluff)

There hasn’t been much interest in our Easy Breezy outings this year. Attendance has been much lower than in the past.  We have also not had anyone volunteer to tow for the past several trips either.

Therefore, the question to our membership is:
1) Do we continue with Easy Breezy paddles?
2) If yes, are you willing to volunteer to be a Trip Organizer or be a tower?
3) If yes, how often would you paddle on an Easy Breezy trip?
4) If no, why?

Please use the comments below to start a discussion, provide feedback and suggestions.

LOST CLUB KEY

It has been brought to our attention that someone borrowed the shed key that was kept at Wing 404 in the box with other keys.

Could whoever borrowed it please return it to Wing 404 asap and contact Eugene Marion  / Armand Martin to let them know that you returned it.

If anyone else has keys they are not using, please contact Armand Martin.

Thank you.

Puslinch Lake Evening Paddle {July 16th}

Puslinch Lake Evening/Moonlight Paddle

Tuesday, July 16th – Open to all members

Our annual evening paddle along the Puslinch Lake shoreline will take place on Tuesday July 16th. We will be checking out the many cottages during our leisurely
paddle (approx. 2 hrs.), enjoy the summer sunset over the lake, and then return on peaceful moonlit waters, under a starry sky (hopefully). Each member is asked to wear a headlamp for safety reasons.

Anyone planning to dine at the Old Marina Restaurant before our paddle should give themselves plenty of extra time, as restaurant service can be slow at this busy time of day. (Also, make sure to speak with trip coordinator.)

Remember to bring: water, insect repellent, sunglasses, a snack, a change of clothes, and *a headlamp* (a flashlight is optional; useful, but not necessary)

Cost: $6 Meet at the shed, at 6:30 pm.

Trip Coordinator: Mark Zelinka

Towers: still NEEDED; anyone willing to assist, contact Mark at zelinkamd@gmail.com

EASY BREEZY-WATERFORD NORTH CONSERVATION {July 11th}

****RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 19TH*****

This is a new trip on our schedule that is open to all members.  Meet at the shed for 9:00 am  so we can depart at 9:15 am.  The trip is approximately 80 km one way.

Cost: $6

The cost to get into the conservation area is $12 per vehicle, so carpooling will be necessary  to share the cost of the entrance fee.

Towers Wanted!!!!

We need a tower for the Easy Breezy this Thursday.  My truck was stolen this past weekend (including all my canoeing stuff), so I won’t be able to tow. Therefore I need someone else to volunteer. If enough people come out, we may need a second tower.  Therefore, I ask that you 1) contact me by Wednesday evening if you are planning on joining us on Thursday, and 2) let me know if you would be willing to tow.

SAUGEEN RIVER {PART 2} – July 9th

Tuesday, July 9th – Saugeen River (Part 2)

For this week’s trip, we will be canoeing the Saugeen River from River Access #7 (Concession 10) to Access #9a (Paisley). This part of the river is an excellent opportunity to practice our skills, enjoy the scenery and navigate a few small rapids.

Since this is one of our longer trips,  it will be an all day event, so we can’t guarantee our return time. The weather is supposed to be hot, so bring lots of water, sunscreen, and bug spray……. (see “What to bring on a Canoe Excursion“)

We will meet at the shed between 7:30 -7:50 am so we can leave at 8:00 am sharp.  Since this is one of our longer trips, the cost will be $9.00. Bring some extra money as we will be ending this trip with an ice cream cone!!

Nith River Trip July 2

Our paddle this Tuesday is on the Nith River  from Ayr to Wolverton . This trip has not been done for several years . The river is low compared to when  Lynn and I scouted it last year so it will be interesting to see how much things have changed. Our biggest problem is the put in.  There is about a 2 foot drop to the water and a very small ledge to stand on. Only 1 canoe can be put in at a time. There is no easy way to get into the canoe so we may have to get into the water first then into the canoe. The take out is easier but a long haul up the bank to the side of the road.

Cost is $6    Meet at the shed at 8:30 am.

Don’t forget to bring lots of water, sunscreen, lunch, bug repellent  and a change of clothes.(just in case)

Trip organizers are:  Lynn Warmington  and Dianne Wagner
