Training Information & Volunteers Required

Training Forms for 2024:

This year, if you choose to take ANY kind of training, you will be required to fill out the training form and pay by cheque, cash, or e-transfer.
Cheque, cash, and e-transfer payments are available at Membership meeting. 

Volunteer Trip Towers AND Trip Leaders Required~ Please consider helping!

Anne would like members to bring their calendars so they can sign up to tow and/or lead canoe trips.
Once dates and trips are confirmed, the trip schedule will be sent out to members via blog post. You will have ample time to review dates, decide when you can volunteer, OR see Anne at membership meeting. 

**Our club cannot be successful if we do not have volunteers and continue to rely on the same few people to do many tasks. **

with your 2 cheques enclosed. (ONE for Membership and ONE for Training )

Paddling Film Festival

Best Paddling Films on one night at Princess Theatre in ‘Uptown Waterloo.

You must buy advanced tickets to the March 28th showing.
Showtime is 7:00,7:15 and 7:30pm.

Hike: Lakeside Park, Kitchener
Tuesday, February 6, 2024 

Theresa Markus, who knows the area well, will co-lead this hike.

Time: 10:00 am
Hike Location:
FreshCo Parking Lot, 720 Westmount Road, (Westmount & Ottawa).
Park near Westmount Rd. You’ll see a Dairy Queen in the strip mall.

Duration:  An out-and-back 2 hour hike on a wide paved trail. You may turn back at any time. Come join us!

Notes:
Lakeside Park is a natural park in the heart of the city. It features a large pond, called Shoemaker Pond, as well as Turtle Beach, created to provide a nesting habitat.

2024 Membership Drive

A few folks have asked when this date is. 

Bett Fitzpatrick and her helpers will welcome members old and new to Rim Park on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 1 to 3pm.

If you are not planning on joining the club this year, 2024, please send an email to info@oldsaltsclub.com and we will remove you from the membership.
Likewise, if you have a friend that may be interested in joining, invite them to check out our website.

Time: 1:30 pm.
Location:  Victoria Bowl, 280 Victoria St., Kitchener
( corner of Victoria and Strange St.)
Cost: $10.00 (includes two games of bowling, shoe rental
and taxes.)
 
Optional:  Lunch ahead of time across the street at City Bakery at 12:30 pm

Please let Brenda Welch know if you plan to come for bowling AND if you
are coming for lunch or not.

Hike Location: Huron Natural Area, 801 Trillium Drive, Kitchener;
free parking; accessible washrooms

Duration: 1½ — 2 hours. You may turn back at any time.

Notes:
Huron Natural Area, one of the City’s largest natural spaces, is home to more than 250 acres of protected forest and wetland and has more than 7 km of trails.

Huron Natural Area has evidence of Indigenous settlement dating back hundreds of years.

Bowling in 2024

Save the Dates

The Social Committee has booked some Bowling Dates in the New Year.

Bowling will be offered the 3rd Tuesday afternoon of Jan., Feb. and March.
So please join us on:
Jan. 16 ~ Feb.20 ~ March 19, at  Victoria Lanes at 1:30 pm.

Cost is now $10 for two games of bowling and shoe rental.

More details closer to the event.  So mark your calendars now!
